Another Ridable Sunset - South Beach (at Duval)
East winds are bringing more uncommon waves to the Key West shores. Not much but started building at sunset. They aint big but still fun and ridable.

****Revision***** Always Bring 2 Boards
Another relaxing Sunday-Funday so Aileen and I loaded up "a" board (not expecting much but a nice paddle option) and started out to woman key. As we were underway the wind picked up from the east and we noticed there was a little swell coming out of the East. So we decide to first check out EDR and it was a good 2'. I quickly hopped in to see if the break was deep enough to get a few rides and found a spot with plenty of water between reef and me. I got a few good waves and noticed the boat was rocking with Aileen stuck aboard with no board to come join. Didn't look like too much fun so i paddled back and modified the previous rule of always bring "a" board to always bring 2 boards.

Ridable Cottrell
With a the wind coming out of the Northeast for the past couple of days we headed out to Cottrell hoping that the winds switch to more of an East wouldn't affect the swell coming from the north too much. Well it did push it down quite a bit but still some fun ridable waves for Jared and myself.

South Swell is Dead.
With the swell coming out of the South pretty strong for the past couple days and wind dying we decided to go to take our chances at Woman Key with hopes of waist high glass... Wrong. Jared any myself got out there and quickly decided to try and see what was at the reef. We got to Eastern and there was plenty of waves but after a while in the water finally found a spot to the east that was deep enough to get quite a few good rides. Third day in a row that goes in the log books.

White Street Pier Sunrise
The Sunset Surf was so good the evening before that a few of us decided to set the alarms and check out White St. Pier for sunset. The swell wasn't as strong but quite rideable so an unbelievable second day of Key West surf in a row was logged. We all had to leave the waves there and head to work but a morning of waves is just fine.

Louies Back Yard Went Off
So as i was going for a nice little nice after work jog, and ran by south beach to see if there was any swell building for a possible Thursday Session at Woman Key, I saw that there was surf everywhere. I Sprinted home, sent a quick text to some people in the community, grabbed my board and a camera and headed to Louie's Back Yard. There was a guy already in the water and i couldn't get in fast enough. What a way to end the day!

Join Up-
Hey, Thanks to everyone that are joining up to KWsurf.com community. As we are attempting to make that section better with allowing picture uploads and other stuff, it is taking us some time to build all of that, so for now, if you join up and want a link to your website, myspace or whatever please email that to me at chris@kwsurf.com and also if you could send a picture that you would like to go in the Community Pictures of you on a board, that would be fantastic.
Always Bring a Board
As we set out for a nice relaxing Sunday on the water we had the thought to maybe explore where there could possibly be waves at Woman Key under the right conditions. With the hint of a leftover south swell we decided to throw my 9'6 in the boat so maybe we could paddle around a bit once we got out there. Surprisingly we got out there and there was a little section with some shin high peelers that were barely rideable, but still rideable. We didn't get many of the rides on camera but we did get a few. Another day logged?... well we rode some waves. but more important i think we have a spot to go with a south swell.

Saturday March 8th, 2008 - Bumpy Day at Sand Key
Finally a full boat went out this past Saturday. We weren't being very decisive on what spot to hit as we got thrown around a bit on the way out, but we decided half way out to go ahead and make a stop at Sand Key. The front side had reminisce of a washing machine, but as we got a little closer, the backside appeared to be fairly clean. We got in for about an hour and a half with some pretty good rides in the incredibly shallow reefed area.

March 2nd Sunday Worship
No one really thought the wind would last throughout the weekend, but Sunday morning it was such a nice day and looked like the wind may pic up a bit so we headed back to Cottrell Key. As we got about a quarter the way there, we could tell there would be waves but we couldn't tell if they would have any form. Once we got to the balls we saw plenty of waves. We got in, caught some waves for a little over an hour. At that point we had to change the tape in the camera and decided to get back in to get some stand up paddle shots. Unfortunately, the wind picked up quite a bit and changed direction a smidgen. This made it really get choppy, so we decided to call it a day. But another Key West surf day logged in 2008.
